Frequently Asked Questions
Why step away from digital connection?
Beyond photos and profiles, participants have the opportunity to experience how someone communicates, listens, and relates in real time. Through face-to-face conversation and shared experience, people can connect in ways that are often difficult to replicate online.
In an increasingly digital world, we believe there is unique value in gathering together. These moments of presence can foster understanding and a deeper appreciation for what becomes possible when people meet one another as whole human beings.
Whether or not you meet a potential partner, many people leave with new perspectives, meaningful connections, and a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
How is Echo different from other dating events?
While many dating companies focus primarily on meeting new people, Echo also creates opportunities to explore how we connect.
Our events include guided conversations, communication tools, grounding practices, time for reflection, and opportunities to connect without pressure.
We also offer an alcohol-free environment.
I'm introverted. Help!
We've got you. Echo events are designed with a range of social styles, comfort levels, and communication preferences in mind. Through thoughtful facilitation and clear structure, we create opportunities for people to engage at a pace that hopefully feels comfortable.
If there is anything we can do to better support your experience, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Some people find that guided conversations and intentional activities take some of the guesswork out of meeting new people, while offering opportunities to build safety and confidence.
Are Echo events open to everyone?
Everyone is welcome in the Echo community. We offer a range of experiences that bring together people across different ages, identities, relationship intentions, and life journeys, while also creating opportunities for connection through shared identities and experiences.
We believe in the inherent dignity of all people. We support the human rights, safety, and belonging of all communities.
Our offerings will continue to evolve as our community grows. We welcome suggestions, requests, and ideas from everyone.
How does matching work?
Echo does not pressure participants into exchanging information or pursuing connections.
Depending on the type of event, participants may have opportunities to express interest in connecting further. Any follow-up is always mutual and voluntary.
Are your events sensory-friendly?
We strive to create environments that are more sensory-conscious than typical social events.
This may include:
Lower noise and lighting levels
Reduced crowding
Quiet spaces when available
Specific accommodations may vary by venue.
What will be available at the event?
Non-alcoholic beverages
Light snacks
Access to washrooms
A seat for every participant
Options for both lighter conversations and deeper topics
Matching forms are sent digitally after the event to remove social pressure
Whenever possible, we also aim to provide:
Both hot and cold beverage options
Digital forms and questionnaires
Quiet or lower-stimulation areas
Detailed information about the space
What should I bring with me?
Not much!
We encourage participants to bring a water bottle, wear whatever helps them feel comfortable and confident, and bring any personal items that support their well-being.
Are the events alcohol-free?
Yes. Echo events are alcohol-free and substance-free.
We recognize that people have diverse relationships with substances, and we want to create spaces where everyone can participate without pressure, expectation, or the need to explain their choices.
While alcohol is often a feature of modern dating culture, it can also affect awareness, emotional regulation, and communication by altering how the nervous system processes social and emotional experiences. An alcohol-free approach creates opportunities for connection that are grounded in presence, clarity, and consent.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that life happens.
Tickets are fully refundable through Eventbrite up to 24 hours before the event. If you're unable to attend after the refund window has closed, please reach out. Whenever possible, we'll credit your ticket toward a future Echo event.
Our goal is to create a process that is accessible to everyone.
